Maker: Vera Akotuah /  From: London /  Craft: Illustrator
Website: tokyogothicseries.etsy.com

The manga culture inspired the style of her pin up girl illustrations. Burlesque has a strong influence as the freedom of expression is apparent here. The pins up girl illustrations are named after parts, locations of Tokyo and all also have original Japanese names. The girls Vera has depicted are inspired by some of pop cultures notable muses including ‘Dita Von Teese’ and ‘Bettie Page’.

You can choose from a selection of Spring and Summer colours and let your creativity flow.

Your experience will include all the materials, a demonstration by Morena, the maker behind Kodes, the necklace (on either cord or chain) or earrings you will make and refreshments kindly offered by Great Art.

As painting with acrylic colours can get messy, we advise you to wear clothes that you don’t mind getting paint marks on as even if the paint is water based it might still stain your clothes. If preferred you can also bring an apron.

The workshop is FREE, but you will need to get a ticket from this page and bring a printed or digital confirmation. Spaces are limited to 15 people per session, one session per person only (be kind to others: by booking one session only you can allow others to join the sessions too), so make sure you book yours in advance to avoid disappointment.
