Everyone is provided with a reusable wooden embroidery hoop (which they can keep) along with fabric, thread, buttons & sequins to stitch their own modern day heirloom. I purposely use embroidery hoops with beginners because the fabric stays flat. This makes sewing techniques a lot easier to grasp and everyone will leave with a completed hand sewn hoop artwork.

All ages love rummaging through our stash of fabrics, ribbons, buttons and threads. Some like to sew an idea of their own. For those who need some ideas, we have heaps of templates on hand so everyone can get on with the making!

We pride ourselves on our environmentally conscious business. Our fabrics and buttons are recycled, our wooden hoops and steel needles are made in the UK and we are super passionate about creating British made plastic free craft kits with reusable tools and materials.

Workshop Aims
To deliver fun & engaging sewing workshops whilst teaching useful, life-long craft skills. I always encourage families to work together on creative projects. I hope my passion and love of creativity inspires families to keep on making long after the workshop is over.

About Jo
I started working at Art Galleries after graduating in BA Art and Craft where I specialised in Textiles. Following this I worked within education, delivering craft workshops and adventure activities to children and young people whilst working at an outdoor education instructor. I became a self-employed artist in 2010 and now run craft workshops at pop up events throughout the UK including Glastonbury, Green Man, Larmer Tree and Shambala.

Sewing workshops last between 40 minutes and one hour and are aimed at children aged 7 plus.
In 2017 I was successful in crowd-funding to launch my first range of craft kits under my business name The DIY Tribe. You can see more of what I do here:
